Created as a concept that is set up to travel the world, NOMAD responds to a growing interest in collectable design and contemporary art among collectors, cultural institutions and beyond. NOMAD brings together leading international galleries which create standout exhibitions in extraordinary architectural locations, targeting a community of discerning professionals.
In February 2020 Nomad St. Moritz will return to Chesa Planta, the prestigious mansion in the heart of the Swiss Alps. This edition builds on the success of NOMAD MONACO, which took place in April 2017 and 2018 in the famous Villa La Vigie in Monaco, against the stunning backdrop of the french riviera.
St. Moritz is one of the most famous winter holiday destinations in the world. Twice the host city for the winter olympics, it has been designated a Unesco world heritage site. Its name is virtually a trademark, synonymous worldwide with style, elegance, and class.
Chesa Planta was built in 1595. It is an impressive example of an engadin aristocrat’s house, and of domestic culture in the 18th and 19th centuries. Gorgeously carved wood-panelled rooms, beautifully painted dining rooms, and elaborate ceramic stoves will set the scene for this first edition of NOMAD ST-MORITZ.
Conceived by Giorgio Pace and Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte, NOMAD establishes a unique dialogue between art, architecture and design in a very personal context. It speaks to those, who are looking for a different experience from the one found among large-scale fairs.▼
