NOMAD: the new traveling showcase for collectable design
NOMAD revisits the classic idea of fairs and exhibitions to innovate a new format for the xxi century. A travelling event for collectable design, NOMAD brings together a selection of the world’s leading galleries in incredible architectural locations. Conceived by Giorgio Pace and Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte, nomad establishes a unique dialog between gallery works and a very personal context, creating a community of individuals looking for a different experience.
NOMAD began its journey on the french riviera in Monaco last April 27-30th 2017, in the historic and stupendous Villa La Vigie, located in the private park of the Monte Carlo Beach club.
A series of engaging VIP events complemented the galleries’ inspiring offerings, including performative dinners in private houses and private visits to a selection of the region’s vibrant cultural institutions. Lord Norman Foster and London Design Museum Director Deyan Sudjic inaugurated the Design Conversations series, a key feature of the NOMAD experience, initiating a meaningful dialogue between singular personalities of the design and architecture fields in an informal and intimate setting.
NOMAD also collaborated with institutions, partners and sponsors to create exceptional experiences for its visitors. These collaborations took the shape of immersive installations, performances, exhibitions and unique objects in dialogue with the surprising spaces of the villa and the innovative format of the event. Partners for these included:
